About me
Identity
You may know me from meatspace as Huy or from cyberspace as xarvos. Unless you know me in meatspace, please go with xarvos. Vowel-omitted variant xrvs is also accepted. It's pronounced /xarvos/ like in IPA. You can choose whichever variant of /r/, but please don't pronounce /x/ as [s]: it should be [x]:
- if you speaks Vietnamese, it sounds like kh in không
- if you speaks Spanish, it sounds like j in mujer
- if you speaks German, it sounds like ch in ach
- if you speaks Russian, it sounds like х in хоро́ший
- if you speaks Mandarin Chinese, it sounds like the first consonant in 话
[χ] may be accepted as a variant.
Interests
I am interested in: web development, networks, sciences, and maths. I sometimes draw and conlang as a hobby, but alas, we only have so many hours a day.
I also enjoy books and movies of genres: fantasy, science fiction, and mystery. Though, lately I've been exploring classic literature as well. I like games, but I mostly play puzzle games and turn-based games. Emulated retro games are great. I listen mostly to industrial metal and symphony metal, but my music library surely has a few other genres as well.
Bad puns and low-effort memes I make. Sometimes multilingual puns even. I always try to find out the wordplay in original works, and so I'd like to read a book, watch a movie, play a game in the original language if possible, but again, we only have so many hours a day.
Projects
My current active1 projects:
- pensiv, a static-site generator that builds this site
- witchie, a fork of toot that adds some Akkoma-specific features
- sysadmining at home
- sysadmining at loang.net
Some projects I'm putting on hold for now:
- Month lunisolar calendar for the calendar on this site
- Implement Telex input method for florisboard
- World-building
- Drawing practice
Contact
See my addresses in footer. Please introduce yourself first when you contact me. I am not always available: consider that I have a full-time job, not only am I not supposed to talk within working hours, I am very tired afterwards and may miss your messages. If it takes days and I haven't replied to you, feel free to ping me again.
Feel free to ask me anything, though refrain from:
- Asking for feedback on a project: On one hand, it makes it look like you're spamming me to promote your project. On the other hand, you're asking me of free labor to, uh, review your code? beta testing? Whatever it is, know that I already have some projects in mind that I am willing to do these works for, but don't have the time and energy to.
- Asking anything related to AI/LLM: I am revolted by the indiscriminate application of LLM and text-to-image models to generate bullshits in mass.
- Only say hi. Like, at least introduce yourself and ask something.
